Hormones and weight loss

Hormones play a massive role when it comes to losing weight. The food we eat, the mood were in, the stress were under, the exercise we do down to the air we breathe has an effect on our hormones and more importantly, our weight loss regime!..

Certain foods can aggravate hormone levels such as chocolate, fried foods, sugar and processed carbohydrates should all be avoided at all costs if wanting to lose weight and slim down. They cause a big spike in insulin levels, which means we get a huge burst of energy then a very big tiresome low. They also increase the hormone cortisol, which is a stress hormone and increases breakdown of muscle which is bad for weight loss. Increased levels of cortisol can lead to decreased bone density, decreased muscle, weight gain, higher blood pressure and increased abdominal fat.

Bad foods also aggravate androgen hormones. Androgens are responsible for testosterone and oestrogen, the male and female hormones which are essential for the body, but if aggravated can have negative effects such as weight gain, acne, depression and aggressiveness.
